Djosa A Poetic Mural
Adorning the streets of Willemstad, Curaçao, is Djosa (2023) a vibrant mural depicting a young woman picking flowers and surrounded by various plant life. Composed of acrylic paint, Djosa is captivating, seductive, and a testament to the multi-talents of Sling.

Djosa shows the beauty of the vibrant natural landscape in Curaçao.
While Sling pursued the visual arts, he had a musical upbringing. As a child, his thirst for musical expression led him, his older brother, and their cousins, to form a band. They rehearsed week after week, eager to perfect their skills and unlock the harmonious potential within them. Recognizing their talent, a supportive auntie stepped forward and became their manager, propelling them to perform at various venues with their band named Suta Kueru. Francis’s home evolved into a hub for musicians, a vibrant meeting point where creativity and inspiration flowed freely.
Sling still explores his musical talents and even brings musicality into this artwork. Instead of a traditional artwork description, Sling wrote a poem to describe Djosa:

A detailed shot of Djosa shows trees springing from her hair and her dress hem appears to become a part of the plant life.
“DJOSA is poetic,
Djosa,
If you don’t speak the language
It may be impossible to understand THIS
Its “Djo! SA! “‘ as in
– Capital WHY OOH YOU! KNOW (it) –
“Yo-sa” is half papiamentu have spanish.
Give me a pen let me write it
Or give me some paint let me try to explain THIS
DJOsa is the question about what god is
Is sheMan or a heWoman?
…… God!
IS THERE SUCH A THING?
DOES HE EXIST OR IS IT A MYTH,?
It’s a Long discussion, that often ends with *what does it matter what i think
Awel “Djosa” is poetic
And If you don’t speak the language
It may be impossible to understand THIS
*Cause it does matter what i think
Cause i and i and i is us and we
living together in what we think THIS is
Whatever THIS is,
i and i is us and we
Living together in what we made of
‘THIS’
DJO SA……. Is poetic
And if you don’t speak the language
It may be impossible to understand This
Djosa means
Who knows what bad or good is
Wich Means Who knows
what we have to do today
and the answer is …………. Diossá!
Djosá as in only god knows
Meanwhile “DJOSA” remains poetic
And if you don’t speak the language
Nevermind It may be impossible to understand
THIS”
