Coral Springs Unveils Florida’s Largest Interactive Mural

Coral Springs is now home to a groundbreaking fusion of art and technology with the unveiling of “Trails of Expression,” the largest interactive mural in Florida. Installed in 2024 on the west-facing wall of the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, this monumental 85 by 65-foot masterpiece was created by internationally acclaimed artist Vito Di Bari.

The mural is not just a visual spectacle—it’s a vibrant tribute to the city’s performing arts community and the core values that define Coral Springs: Teamwork, Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Leadership, and Superior Service (TRAILS). Each artistic figure in the mural—musicians, dancers, actors, and directors—was thoughtfully chosen to symbolize these principles:
  • The orchestra represents Teamwork
  • The ballerina embodies Respect
  • Trapezists stand for Accountability
  • The electric guitarist and singer signify Innovation
  • The director exemplifies Leadership
All of these elements are set against a stage-like backdrop of abstract colors and lights, weaving together a narrative that celebrates the city’s dedication to culture and community.

What truly sets “Trails of Expression” apart is its integration of augmented reality (AR). Visitors can use a smartphone app to watch the mural spring to life: the orchestra sways, the ballerina leaps, trapezists swing, and the director orchestrates the scene with animated gestures. This innovative AR feature transforms the mural into an immersive experience, blending art, technology, and storytelling in a way that’s never been seen before in the region.

Funded by the city’s Public Art Program—which brings art to public spaces without using ad valorem taxes—”Trails of Expression” is more than just a mural. It’s a cultural beacon that enriches the Center for the Arts and the entire city, offering a positive and rewarding experience for residents and visitors of all ages.
