Introducing Vito Di Bari

The Future.  These two simple words placed together evoke immediate responses in all of us.  Grandiose, intriguing, intimidating, exciting, and a concept held almost universally as a distant reality, a dream – The Future.  The human mind grasps the immediate future and the concept of a distant future, but it has not yet found a bridge for crossing the “medium-term future”.  That is except for the mind of the world’s leading futurist, Vito Di Bari.   Vito Di Bari is considered the thought leader of art and architecture   movement Neo-Futurism and the leading authority on innovation design and solutions in areas including future technology, communications, business, architecture, robotics and engineering. Vito Di Bari has been Executive Director at UNESCO’s IMI and is founder and Scientific Director of the International Research Laboratory Next Media Lab, quoted as, “Milan’s M.I.T.” by L’Espresso magazine and, “Milan’s think tank” by Wired magazine. He is professor of Design and Management of Innovation at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and of Cross Media Communication at Bocconi University.  Vito has also written as a weekly columnist for the Italian newspapers Il Sole 24Ore, Mark-Up and Panorama, the American publication HIT Exchange Magazine and has been a TV host on the Discovery Channel.

Vito has written eleven books on innovation, and his futurist insight is so highly sought after, that for the past fifteen years, he has presented at dozens of events hosted around the globe.  He can present in English, Italian, French and Spanish.  Vito Di Bari is “the new European guru of innovation,” according to The Financial Times.   Vito’s presentations have been described as, “Witty and provoking… Vito hits directly to the hearts of each person.  Effective, direct and out-of-the-box, his presentations are impressive and refreshingly frank.”

Vito Di Bari was chosen to be the Innovation Designer for Milan candidate city of the upcoming 2015 Universal EXPO; he has designed 25 innovative solutions for a city of the near future in which digital and physical architecture are intertwined, and the quality of everyday life is transformed and improved upon.

 

His Story

Vito Di Bari grew up in the coastal town of Bari in southern Italy.  As a youth he excelled at school, soccer, and socializing, but also managed to find time for writing, acting, and directing in theatre.  After graduating university with honors, Vito made his way to Milan, where he quickly inserted himself as a major player in the new media scene.  In 1981 Vito hopped the pond to make his mark in New York City.

In New York, Vito continued his executive career in new media at the Satellite Program Network (SPN), holding the position of Executive Vice President of Programming – Europe. The network eventually changed its name to CNBC, and today it has over 400 million viewers worldwide.  At the age of just twenty-five, Vito collaborated with Ed Taylor in the start up of a new generation of TV networks and this exciting experience impacted his life greatly.  Vito realized then that he had a gift for clearly seeing the future, and thus he began to forecast the future as he continues to do today.
